Statement on the Anniversary of the January 6th Insurrection
January 6, 2025- Four years ago today, on January 6, 2021, violent insurrectionists stormed the capitol building in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Today, on the fourth anniversary of that attempted coup, we at New Jewish Narrative continue to stand for democracy and justice. As we have said many times before: political violence is never the answer.
We urge our community: Do not take the peaceful transition of power for granted— and do not forget the violence, hate, and misinformation that was perpetrated so recently here in our nation’s capital. We must all continue to speak up and speak out in the face of misinformation, corruption, and hatred.
New Jewish Narrative’s President and CEO Hadar Susskind said: “Whether here in the US, in Israel, or in Palestine, we will continue to fight for democracy and demand a truthful rendition of history. Gaslighting has become the national policy of far too many political leaders, but we will not let usurpers of justice rewrite history, and we will oppose those who seek to subvert truth.”
